PICE-SACLI Chapter took part in the 21st national Civil Engineering Students Conference
           November 23-24, 2018

    PICE-SACLI Chapter attended the annual event of Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) last November 23 until 24, 2018 held in Balangas City, Bataan. The said event was hosted by the Student Chapter Affairs Committee of PICE headed by the PICE National Director and Chairman, Engr. Ixoperio R. Bonzon.

    The first day of the Conference was merely about the competitions between different Colleges from the different parts of the Philippines. PICE-SACLI joined the Bridge Building Competition held in Lou-is Resort and Restaurant. This is the first time that our school sent engineering representatives in National Competition for off-campus event. Our school representatives were Zandrex Matira, John Patrick Rufino, Angelica Gabito, Jan Mikhael Macalinao and Riven Bermudez. Some experienced civil engineering students around the country took advantage in building bridges and dominate the competition while our newbie competitors improved their knowledge and skills and gained their very first national experience memorable for joining more future competitions.

    For second day or the very important part of the 21st National Civil Engineering Students’ Conference was the seminar about the latest Civil Engineering trends, and project around the Philippines. Bataan Provincial Governor Hon. Albert S. Garcia gave a very inspirational welcome remarks and Engr. Bonzon officially opened the Students’ Conference. The Masters of Ceremony Engr. Vincente Y. Nodado and Mr. Nelmar C. Ongoco. The speakers were Ms. Mara Catalina E. Cabral, Ph.D., Engr. Isaac S. David, Dr. Robert S. Licup, Engr. Kimuel V. Suyat, Engr. Michael V. Almeida, Engr. Hadji Peejay U. Aranda, Engr. Mark Vincente Y. Nodado and Engr. Amie Lou G. Cisneros. Lots of topics were discussed during the conference including the tour of the Bunker Project in Balangas City where the participants reached the seventh floor without using the stairs but with using only the continuous spiral ram. It was followed by open the forum with the students and their questions regarding the things that were discussed by each speaker. The event ended with delicious dinner provided by the Committee. (Z. SASEC's Goal: To mae children happy
           November 15-16, 2018

    St. Anne Student Executive Council had their 3 P’s or The Paper and Pen Project held last November 15 and 16 in the selected Public Schools in Lucena City.

    A day with love and generosity owed by the SASEC officers, as they had their first stop for the project at Domoit Elementary School, November 15, 2018. Student listened to beautiful stories offered by the student-teachers of St. Anne. Almost 80 Grade 3 pupils received the school supplies. Each pupil received 3 notebooks, a pencil, and a crayon. With a happy heart and smiles on their faces, pupils received early Christmas gift from St. Anne. Nutritious snacks given were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lucena College Junction headed by Dr. Anthony Limbo.

    Next stop is at Reymar Compound Elementary School, November 16, 2018. Early in the morning, children were all set and excited to receive their gifts. Mrs. Maria Corazon Rubio, the school principal was very grateful that St. Anne Student Executive Council chose Reymar Compound as one of the beneficiaries of the said project. Big thanks to SACLI Alumni and Placement as they sponsored 60 plus students of Reymar Compound Elementary School.

    Afternoon of November 16, 2018 SASEC officers proceeded to Ilayang Dupay Elementary School for the last beneficiary school of their project.

Prowess and Triump: A salute to student Chef's and Hoteliers
           November 14, 2018

    Salutation for the student chefs and hoteliers! St. Anne College Lucena Inc. pays tribute to the winning student chefs and hoteliers as the Overall Philippine Champion in the 12th National Food Showdown 2018 held last November 14, 2018 at SACLI gymnasium.

    Office of Student Affairs headed by Prof. Nelson E. Dean organized a day full of prowess and triumph. The event was attended by the Administrators, faculty members, students and parents. The celebration was started with a thanksgiving mass presided by Rev. Fr. Ruel Abuel. After the mass, the program started with words of welcome addressed by the Dean of School of Management for International Hospitality and Tourism, Dr. Rogelio B. Llave. Meanwhile, Ms. Maria Krista Aquino, a BSHRM student gave a Mariah Carey medley song number. Atty. Jade Andaman-Recio, Senior Vice President, delivered her words of inspiration. Afterwards, each student chef and hotelier received a certificate of recognition and a recipient of tuition fee discount for the 2nd semester, S.Y. 2018-2019.

    St. Anne Dance Troupe hyped up the audience’s energy as they showcased their swag-packed move. It was followed by giving recognition to the parents of student chefs and hoteliers for choosing St. Anne College in molding their child’s future. Joanaflor Caracas, NFS participant (mocktail category) presented her skills in mocktail making exhibition. The Academic Executive Committee awarded the plaque of Appreciation to Coaches whom patiently trained the students for the said competition. It was followed by words of Gratitude addressed by the selected chefs and hoteliers. Prof. Rosenda P. De Guzman, delivered her closing remarks. A simple dinner at the hub was served after the program.

     St. Anne College Lucena, Inc. has been awarded as the Over-all Champion in the recently concluded, 12th National Food Showdown held last October 23- 26 at Elements Hall, Centris, Quezon City.

    Ms. Cattleya Nadeline Cordero played as the Master of Ceremony.

SACLI's ABCommunication Students bagged the Champion Award in the short film and Animated Informercial Competition by DTI-Quezon Province
           November 7, 2018

    The AB Communication Society of St. Anne College Lucena, Inc. (SACLI) bagged the Champion award in the Short Film Making Competition entitled “Konsensya” and the Animated Info-mercial Competition last November 7, 2018 at the Café Antigua, Lucena City. The competition was facilitated by the Department of Trade and Industry Quezon Provincial Field Office headed by Ms. Leila M. Cabreros, the Officer-in-Charge.

    The Competition aimed to build awareness and to educate people on how to be critical in purchasing product online. The competitions were anchored to this year’s theme “Making Digital World Places Fairer”.

    Likewise, the “Wais ka bestfriend” of SACLI and the entry from Sacred Heart College were also awarded as 2nd Runner Up and 1st Runner Up, respectively, in the Short Film Making Competition. Moreover, the entries from Dalumbahasaan ng Lungsod ng Lucena and Manuel S. Enverga Univeristy Foundation won the Animated Infomercial Category as 1st Runner and 2nd Runner Up, respectively.

    The short film entry from SACLI is “Wais ka Bestfriend”. It is about a girl who bought a fake beauty product online and suffered skin irritation. Her best friend gave a lot of tips on how she can be a wiser consumer of online shopping. She eventually found a legitimate online shopping website where she purchased another skin care product. At the end of the day, she was able to be a satisfied online shopper and a consumer of the product.

    The SACLI’s AB Communication Society participated in this competition to develop and enhance their skills in conceptualizing stories and making short films. Moreover, it is part of their advocacy to communicate an important message to the public in creating awareness on their rights and responsibilities as costumers in the online market. The SACLI AB Communication Society wishes to continue to represent the College as they showcase their talents and creativity in the field of short filmmaking and animated infomercial.
